My visit to Vagabond!

Hi everyone! Here I am with some news about my visit with Vagabond!

When I typed the address of Vagabond on my GPS, the restaurant was less than an hour away from Rowan’s campus with a straight drive on the Atlantic City Expressway. Not bad for an adventurer looking to escape the campus for a little while.

The directions were really easy, hardly any turns, and a couple dollars spent on the toll. Before I knew it I was looking straight ahead at the restaurant. The restaurant itself has parking so no need to worry about where to park. My boyfriend and I were greeted by a working cleaning a window outside the restaurant. He greeted us and opened the door with a huge smile on his place, me thinking, “I like this place already” 🙂 First thing I noticed was the bar, big rectangular bar with a good amount of people sitting around it. The hostess gave us the option of sitting at a regular table or a high top table. I gave her the option of choosing for us, so we walked towards the back and sat down at our table. Below are  the images of our seated section, our table as well as the view of the bay.

I told our hostess we were here for restaurant week and what would she recommend for our meal. She immediately said the Spicy California Burger was delicious and the best that she’s tried. So I definitely took that into consideration. As my boyfriend, Ryan, and I looked at the menu, I was at lost with what I wanted to get. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. Our waiter greeted us as I was looking through the menu and brought us 2 glasses of water. Because I was still indecisive, I asked the waiter what his favorite was and he too said the Spicy California Burger. At that point we just had to get it and see for ourselves why it was a favorite. So our meal consisted of an appetizer, lobster bisque for me and ryan had the house salad, two of their “famous” Spicy California Burger, and vanilla ice cream for dessert. We wanted to try another item on the menu because “why not?”. So we picked the crab dip because I looooove crab dip. And voilĂ !!!

I could not have asked for a better lunch date, the food was sooo good we definitely want to come back here in the summer time maybe with some friends to show them the great food and drinks this restaurant and bar has to offer. Until next time, have a great week! If you’re on spring break, let me know where you’re off to and what adventures you get into 🙂 Mine starts this coming week so look out for another blog post about my spring break soon!

We have a winner!!!

The restaurant I have chosen to go to is Vagabond Kitchen & TapHouse. Besides having such a great selection for the restaurant week menu, I discovered that they were featured on the Food Network tv show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!!!! I freaking love that show. Some time in my life I would love to go to the different restaurants that are featured on that show and this week I actually get to go to one, how f****** amazing is that!

So a little information about Vagabond…Not only is it a restaurant but it also is a bar giving it a name “the ideal brewpub”. They have a huuuuge selection of craft beers and the menu has a variety of items to choose from, pleasing anyone and everyone! The restaurant sits right on the bay with breathtaking sunsets that can be viewed in the outdoor patio during the spring, summer, and fall nights. To entertain its’ patrons the restaurant features live weekly events such as live music, Quizzo, and karaoke. Who wouldn’t like a laid-back fun atmosphere?! I’m SUPER excited to go! Kinda sad I won’t be able to go during dinner time but if all goes well I’ll have to come back again at night. Stay tuned as my next post will be about my experience there and until then check out my instagram (IG: @neighborhood_bites) as I bring along my phone and capture my memories at Vagabond!

Atlantic City Restaurant Week

Finally! Here it is, the week that I’ve been waiting for! AC RESTAURANT WEEK :)))))) For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, let me tell you about this amazing week, “Restaurant Week”. So basically a particular location, and in this situation I’m talking about Atlantic City, picks restaurants around the area to be featured during this week. Some restaurants participate in lunch and dinner, other only participate in the dinner aspect of the day. Why this week is so amazing is that the lunch and dinner times features 3 or 4 course meals for a fixed price! Normally these 3 or 4 course meals cost some major $$$ but for this week alone, it’ll be an affordable price. The number of restaurants participating are endless, from American to Mexican to Italian and more!

Because of my availability this week I will be visiting a restaurant during lunch time. My amazing boyfriend agreed he would accompany me in this adventure of mine 🙂 So yesterday I took the time to go through all the restaurants and their menus to see which items will be featured. For lunch time, the fixed price for a 3 course meal is a whopping $15.16 per person! And for dinner time, it’s $33.16 per person! Can you believe that?! AHHHHH this is why I love this week so much ❤ In my first round of selection I picked 12 restaurants that I found interesting. I went back again for another round and actually looked at the “appetizers, entrees, and desserts” for each restaurant to narrow down my search. I was able to narrow it down to 5 restaurants and I gave my boyfriend permission to narrow it to 2 (I hate making decisions). I looked up the two finalists, “Wingcraft Kitchen & Beer Bar” and “Vagabond Kitchen & Tap House”. Check out my next post to see who I’ve selected! Also, if you decide to participate in AC Restaurant Week, let me know which restaurant you go to, I’d love to know!

Until next time, peace out homies

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Neighborhood Bites!

Follow me as I give some insights into neighboring food eateries around the Glassboro area. If you’re tired of going to the same on/off campus food eatery then you have come to the right place. I’ll be making my way through some neighboring towns of Glassboro, New Jersey scoping in on some restaurants I think a college student, like myself, would enjoy going to. Not many students from Rowan University  or young adults in Glassboro know about other restaurants in local towns so I will be your personal guide in search of new and exciting restaurants to go to!

I will be going to restaurants that I have been to in the past as well as new restaurants that I have heard about, through online or from friends. If you have suggestions of places for me to try out, feel free to contact me through my contact page or just leave a reply below! I’m always open to trying new restaurants and seeing places I’ve never been to. In the beginning of the week, I’ll give you a preview of the restaurant I will be visiting. I’ll be discussing information about the restaurant and the menu. After I visit the restaurant I will be telling you about the overall experience, hopefully with some pictures of the restaurant, my food, and some good company! I would love to hear back from all of you so please feel free to comment on anything and everything. I will also be posting pictures and anything I find interesting on the Internet about food on my Instagram so make sure to follow that 🙂 So here we go, out with the old, in with the new. Let’s see the kind of adventures I can get into!

March Madnessssss!

No, unfortunately, I will not be talking about basketball and its’ March Madness. Buttttttt I will be talking about the exciting restaurants I will be visiting during this month of March! “Show me around the neighborhood” is the theme I chose for this month, which relate to the restaurants I have selected to visit, with the exception of spring break.

To kick start my food restaurant adventures, I will be participating in Atlantic City Restaurant Week. More information about AC Restaurant Week can be found on my next post later on this week! Stay tuned 🙂

During the week of March 14-18, Rowan University will be having its’ spring break! If yourspring break is this week, where are you heading to? Reply below and let me know of the fun and exciting adventures you’ll be going on during spring break. This girl will be going to Jack Frost & Big Boulder in the Pocono Mountains, PA. For my boyfriend’s belated birthday gift, we will be taking on the slopes for his first time and my second time! I’m super stoked for it 🙂 Because this is a new place and I love visiting new restaurants, I will be scoping out a restaurant to visit while we’re up there. Although it won’t be a restaurant that a Rowan University student would want to go to during a boring Friday night, if you ever decide to go to Jack Frost & Big Boulder maybe the restaurant I chose will be a restaurant you’ll visit while you’re up there!

Coming back from spring break, I’m going to check out a local favorite of mine that is known for their Tuesday Night Wing Night. If you’re from Washington Township, Sewell, NJ you’ll know exactly which restaurant I’m talking about. The restaurant I’m talking about is PJ Whelihan’s. Nothing can beat their half off wings on Tuesday Nights that specialize in a variety of flavors!

To end the month of March and to jump start the Spring season heading into April, I will be visiting a not so popular local restaurant that has a huuuuuuge selection of milkshakes that are unbelievably amazing, it’ll make you want to come back for more! This restaurant is called Nifty Fiftys.
